Heijo Imperial Palace, Nara
Nara was the capital before it moved via Fujiwara to Kyoto. Then it was called Heijo and like Kyoto the original buildingd are long gone. However Nara has been reconstructing the old palace area. Last time I was here they had finished both Suzaku gate and the Imperial Audience Chamber but now a new gate has been constructed and a tower currently under construction.
